Why our bags stand out from the rest

Because our bags are built to last, with a lifetime guarantee, the very best quality goes into every aspect of their creation. Here’s a sneak peek into what makes Sarah Haran women's bags stand out from the rest.

We take time to handcraft our bags using skilled artisans across Europe.

We’ve hunted across Europe for the best craftsmen and women out there. Our three main manufacturers are in Manchester, Ubrique in Spain, and Turkey - each with over a hundred years of experience. True family affairs, each of these businesses operate with family members still in charge, using leather know-how that’s been handed down through the generations.

Selecting family-run businesses, rather than big, faceless factories, sums up everything the Sarah Haran brand is about. If you buy one of our bags you know artisans have produced it without exploitation, in a skilled process that takes up to 18 hours.

What's more, each bag is checked by Sarah from her studio in Glasgow before it’s given its lifetime guarantee.

We travel the world for the best quality materials.

We source quality full-grain leather from the outskirts of Venice, as it’s the strongest and most durable leather type that improves with age. We also use smooth leather for our Ivy saddle bag, sourced from Spain - another outpost of quality leatherworking.

The zips, press studs, chains and tassel fasteners that make up our hardware are twice-dipped so the plating stays put without scratching and minimal bubbles. It’s also made from quality, weighty materials that translate into fine finished goods.

Because we take the time for research and have strict standards on who we take on as a partner, you can be sure our materials come from eco-conscious tanneries, producers and suppliers, who care for animal welfare and minimise the use of heavy metals and chemicals.

As part of our commitment to ethical practice, we ensure we stay up-to-date with developments in leather-making, as part of the growing movement to minimise its negative effects on the environment.

The bags are designed with you in mind.

Our designs have been hard thought over with the busy working woman in mind - we know you multitask, so we’ve made sure our quality handbags and tote bags do too. Each one is road-tested for six months until we’re sure it does the job it’s meant to - and only then will it be sent to production.

Sarah Haran bags have five interior pockets to keep you organised, with slots for your phone, passport, notebook, wallet or keys – depending on the bag.

The different designs are perfect for different needs. Our Marie cross-body camera bag was created as a compact, hands-free option for events like rugby matches or concerts. The Dahlia is a leather tote bag that’s roomy enough for your laptop so you can travel to meetings with one bag for your computer, notebook, purse and phone.

While the detachable Ivy front on many of our styles works as an in-built evening clutch or shoulder bag, so if you’re packing for a weekend away, or day-to-night events, you know that one bag has you covered.

Our modular design also means you can add or remove colours, patterns and texture for multiple looks, so the bag that matched your nude slingbacks for work will go just as well with your leopard print skirt at the weekend.

We want you to wear your bag over a lifetime, not just for a season, which is why so much care and time goes into making your Sarah Haran bag the best quality product it can be.
